Your Beer-vent Calendar for 2017

Do you love beer, events and questionable word play? Then welcome to your happy place. We’ve found the best beer and cider events from around the country and compiled them into a handy list for your planning pleasure.

Crafted Live

Beer and BBQ’d goods are a match made in heaven and we’ll be damned if there’s anything better than sipping a chilled ale alongside a plate of deliciously smoky brisket. Once you’ve made your taste buds happy you’ll also be able to bust out your best moves to live music and maybe even learn a thing or two at one of the masterclasses.

Wollongong, April 15 – 16.

Good Beer Week Melbourne

This behemoth of an event has grown more than 500 percent since its first run in 2011 and now has so many beer related events that we don’t know where to start. Maybe with the World Tinnie Hurling Championships? Or the NZ Brewer Speed Dating? Maybe even the five course Beer Ramen dinner? In any case, we’ll see you there.

Melbourne, May 12 – 21.

GABS

Featuring 180 festival beers and ciders made specially for the event, a giant 18-metre-high beer Ferris Wheel, delicious eats and Silly Hat Sunday (because drinking beer is always more fun in a costume), you’d be silly to miss this one as it makes its way around the southern capitals.

Melbourne, May 19 – 21. Sydney, May 27.

Beer Can Regatta

The focus isn’t so much on craft beer but beer craft at this one. Confused? You probably still will be when you watch the boats made of beer cans race down the waterfront and even more so when you see ‘land boats’ raced Fred Flintstone style on the sand. Ah Darwin, never change.

Darwin, July 9.

Adelaide Beer & BBQ Feast

South Australia’s biggest beer, cider and BBQ party offers the concoctions of more than 50 brewers, dishes of some of the state’s best restaurants and non-stop live music to amp up the festival vibes.

Adelaide, July 28 – 30.

Beer InCider

We told you there’d be word play. And the cheeky name’s not even the best part of this festival, which has wowed beer and cider lovers with an epic selection of independent brews and some of the best names in the music biz for the past four years. Details of this year’s event are yet to be released but you can sign up to the ‘brewsletter’ (yep) for updates.

Brisbane, September 22 – 23.

Sydney Beer Week

New event organisers are claiming this year’s festival will be bigger and better than ever before, rolling out a plethora of events across the city. Maybe you’d like to feel fancy at the opening gala tasting event, recover from a big night at the hair of the dog breakfast or enjoy your ale with a side of something delicious at the Food Truck Corral.

Sydney, October 20 – 29.

WA Beer Week

This little cracker has been taking over all four corners of Perth every November since 2002 with more beer, cider and food events than you can poke a stick at. This year’s program will be released in early October so keep your eyes peeled for details.

Good beer. Good backdrop. Cheers @oldbridgecellars for the roadie. #roadsoda

Canberra Beer Week

This 10-day celebration will be back in November for another round of tap takeovers, beer dinners, beer trivia, meet-the-brewer events, brewery tours and festivals. Keep your eye on the website for details.

QLD Beer Week

Queenslanders love their beer, especially in summer, so it’s only logical that they’ll be creating more opportunities to enjoy it once again this December. The focus is well and truly on craft beer so everyone from the beer novice to the beer aficionado is bound to find a new brew to fall in love with. Details of this year’s events will be released closer to the date.
