See Nigella Lawson and Adam Liaw in Margaret River

Sink your teeth into the Margaret River Gourmet Escape and relish in Australia’s abundance of incredible food and wine – with a program of events hosted by world culinary icons from Nigella Lawson to Adam Liaw and Michelin-starred Joan Roca i Fontané, from 18 to 20 November.

You’ll rub shoulders with the world’s top chefs as they share their love of food. Hosted in WA’s most remarkable wine region just 4 hours south of Perth – think pristine beaches, tall tree forests, spectacular wineries teamed with a weekend of fine wine, food and friends. The festival will host wine tastings, long table lunches and traditional feasts hosted in local wineries.

The main hub of the festival is the Gourmet Village, in the Leeuwin Estate Winery. Masterclasses, ‘Battles of the Breweries’ and culinary conversations with chefs and authors will take place in the village. The centre stage - The Chef’s Theatre, will have free sessions from international icons Rick Stein and Nigella, hosted by Australia’s favourite Masterchef winner Adam Liaw.

After the festival, it is worth checking out one of the many other wineries in Margaret river for a long lunch or three. Vasse Felix is Margaret River’s founding estate, specialising in Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay as well as Shiraz and Semillon Sauvignon Blanc. Their philosophy for creating the world’s best wine is a ‘hands off’ approach - ‘fruit quality through plant health, and plant health through soil health,’ relying on the ideal environment in the region. Join them for wine tastings, tours or enjoy a meal at their multi award winning restaurant.

For dinner, there’s Settlers Tavern - a classic Australian styled bar, with Australia’s best rated pub wine list. Try wine by the glass from the best wineries around Australia or the region’s very on Margaret River Ales, four varieties of ales and pilsners inspired by the South West. They also have a great range of food options available from a kids menu to a gluten free menu – all bases are covered.

Adventurous travellers will also be excited to hear that Margaret River has over 135 kilometres of coastline with 75 surf breaks to choose from. Our top picks?
